Dear Cells
Ltd, we stored our sons cells with you in 2005. One
reason being our eldest son is diabetic we have just
heard that Newcastle University have produced insulin
cells from umbilical cord blood stem cells. It is exciting
for us and I thought you may be interested. Also in
the Harborough area is a little girl who is currently
being treated for cancer with stem cells from cord blood
from an American cord bank. I really feel this may be
the answer to many things in the future. Thanks again
for giving us some hope.
Mrs. Coxon
When
my wife first mentioned stem cell storage i admit
that I had my reservations. Obviously there is a cost
involved and as we all know, babies are very expensive.
I wanted to know all about the collection procedure,
how it was stored, who would get the sample transferred,
did it have to be refrigerated, how quickly did we
have to get it there etc etc. My wife Nathalie and
I looked at several companies and i have to say that
Dr Anwar had several detailed phone calls with us
and put my mind at ease. Some companies have very
glossy brochures but don't let that make your
decision, after all we are the ones paying for it.
The procedure
itself is very straight forward. Although most medical
people in hospital are reluctant to get involved which
I hope will change as more parents do this for their
child, don't be put off by this. Cells limited
provide you with a pack with step by step instructions
and colour photos to back it up. The only tips I would
say are to get the midwife or doctor to clamp the
babies umbilical cord as soon as they are born and
get your pack ready before hand. Despite all of the
medical personnel telling me that i wouldn't get
more than a few millilitres of blood I managed to
get 108mls which when analysed at Cells Limited proved
to be one of their best samples with many more stem
cells than are needed for a successful sample.
As promised
by Dr Anwar, the DHL courier came and collected the
sample which we didn't let out of our sight as
i felt that this was now as precious as our baby daughter
Charlotte. It arrived on time to Cells Limited and
is now successfully stored in two different laboratories,
in Holland and Belgium, which no other company i know
of does, which was very important for me just in case
something was to happen and the sample was lost. Cells
Limited have many more samples stored than most other
companies and more years of experience. They
are a very professional company who are prepared to
take the time to explain everything to you thoroughly.
Now that i have done this for my daughter i feel that
i have given my little girl the best possible insurance
policy. With my wife suffering MS and a close friend
who is ultra fit and never being ill diagnosed with
Hodgkinsons lymphoma which stem cells can help cure
i am so glad that i have done it. Whilst we all hope
and pray that it wont happen to us or our family,
none of us know what is around the corner. With i
think 3 out of 5 of us predicted to get a serious
illness or cancer in our lifetime i can see stem cell
collection becoming much more popular. When you consider
the cost over a 20 year period it is no more than
another annual utility bill or night out. I would
highly recommend any parents to collect their child's
cord blood even if it means doing it yourself. It
really is a simple process which you can do.
Mr
& Mrs Fricker
Dear Sir,
We thought that we would write to thank you for your
help and service over the past few weeks.
Following our discovery that stem cell collection and
storage was possible for our forthcoming addition, we
researched the possible companies and created a shortlist.
After subsequent discussions with our midwife we were
disappointed to discover that, due to liability concerns,
our local hospital trust would not allow any of it's
staff to be involved in the cell collection procedure.
We contacted the short listed companies for advice.
This was the point at which we discounted all others.
Your knowledge of the subject, straight forward description
of the procedure and encouragement that we would be
able to collect the cells ourselves provided us with
the confidence we needed.
The procedure was straight forward, the instructions
clear. Whilst my wife held our new daughter I collected
stems cells from several different sites on the cord.
These cells may make a significant difference to our
daughters quality of life at some point in the
future, but hopefully they won't be needed. We see
them as an insurance policy we wouldn't want to
be without.
So once again, thank you for all you time and assistance.
Yours faithfully,
Felix and Louise Carmichael
Thank
you very much for your communication. We have suggested
the utilization of your services to other friends here
in Pisa.
We are waiting for the certificate of stem cells storage.
Congratulations for the perfect efficiency and
organization of your services.
Sincerely,

I
would say to anybody who is nervous that if you are
OK about attending the birth, and haven't so far
fainted at the sight of blood and tubes and instruments,
you can approach the collection with confidence. The
instructions are clear - go through them in advance,
at least twice. Make sure the team know beforehand that
you are going to collect, and when you are there ask
for surgical gloves. There is plenty of time at this
stage, you can meet the new baby first and you don't
need to rush. Inserting the needle is like giving an
injection except you don't have to worry whether
it will hurt. The artery is big and easy to see. I was
advised to insert near one end and let gravity do the
work. Medical staff in my experience were helpful and
even curious, because most hadn't seen it done before.
And this was in a hospital where they were not supposed
to assist. All you need to do then is follow the packing
instructions, sort out a place where you can leave the
package for collection, and call DHL with the details.

"My
husband and I had nothing but wonderful service from
Baby Cells from start to finish. They were the
only company who gave us detailed and impartial advice
without any sales pressure. The whole process
from start to finish was simple - everything went through
smoothly and professionally with someone (Dr Anwar)
always to hand if we needed any help or advice.
Being adopted myself, it gives us in particular, and
added peace of mind should the unthinkable ever happen
to our precious daughter."
I
only wish we had found you before the birth of our first
daughter!
Best
wishes and thank you and your team again for all your
help.

Thank
you for letting us know the results, we are very pleased,
particularly as I had to carry out the procedure myself,
as the hospital trust did not allow their staff to do
the collection.
Thank
you also for your help and support. Hopefully we
will never require the use of the cells, but it is reassuring
to know that they are there, should the need arise.
Regards,

We
have been very pleased with the quick and efficient
service that you have provided.
The
information that was supplied was clear and made the
collection and forwarding of our daughter's stem
cells easy.
We
would have no hesitation in recommending your services.
Once
again thank you for all your help and support during
and after the collection of our daughter's stem
cells.
Kind
regards,

I
have been to the lab in Mechelen this morning and everything
went quite smoothly. Met with Dr. Marc Waeterschoot
and Dr. Guy Wouters. The lab is very efficient indeed
with all the technicians know exactly what to do.
Many
thanks for arranging the visit. Umbilical cord blood
stem cells storage has a great future, especially there
are little if not none of ethical and religious concern.

"We decided to collect our son's stem cells
only a couple of weeks before he was born, so we were
delighted with the very speedy delivery of the collection
pack. Your service was extremely efficient, with clear
instructions, especially the pictorial guidelines for
the doctors. We would have no hesitation at all recommending
you to others. Thanks again!"
